Louisville, Kentucky- February 5-7, 2016

Another weekend getaway, this time to nearby Louisville! We stayed at Homewood Suites for this visit. We visited the burial site of President Zachary Taylor. Zachary Taylor was known for being a war hero for the Mexican-American War and the War of 1812.

We also visited the Louisville Zoo. We went to Cave Hill Cemetery, a historic cemetery with interments such as George Rogers Clark, Colonel Sanders, and the song writer for 'Happy Birthday'. We ate at the Cheesecake Factory while we were in town. We also visited the malls to kill time for the weekend.

We also toured the Louisville Mega Caverns. Caves are natural while caverns are man-made locations. This location has a wonderful display of lights at Christmas time. It was neat to learn about the history and intended use of the caverns, such as being a bunker for many politicians in case of a strike against the nation. Overall, we felt the visit wasn't worth it for the time unless it was for the Christmas lights.

We struggled to find things to do to fill a weekend, but we got one more presidential burial site off our list!
