Evan got another random week off of work, so it's back down to Papa Ronnie's! We spend another day in Biloxi at the beach, gift shops, and coastal highway. This visit we went to Beauvoir, the last home of Jefferson Davis, President of the Confederacy. The site has also been used as a Confederate Veterans home since 1903. The home is still well preserved, which surprised me with the amount of hurricanes that come through the area.
We ended up going to Shucker's Stadium to pick up some items for Papa. We had dinner with Dee and Ed Taylor at an old firehouse that was turned into a restaurant. We also saw two armadillos in the yard on this trip. One day while we were leaving the house, we saw a rattlesnake in the driveway. Papa reached behind his seat to grab a gun to shoot it right there from the truck. Lord, I know I'm in the south!
We visited with family while we were there. I took my genealogy research with me, and Uncle Raymond sat and read every single page. He was so excited about the work I had done and asked me to send him a copy. It would be our last visit with Uncle Raymond. He passed away six months after this visit. Papa Ronnie sent us home with lots of family treasures such as Papa Andy's Navy plaque and two sets of dishes that belonged to Granny (my great grandparents).
