Mississippi- July 24-28, 2020

With many things still being shut down due to COVID but us needing to use vacation time, we headed back down south to see Papa Ronnie!

We spent a day at Biloxi Beach. Evan unknowingly touched a jellyfish! Thankfully he only touched the top part before I told him what he was touching. As we kept walking, we saw so many along the beach. We did get to go back to the Gulf Coast Gator Ranch to feed the gators.

We played lots of 'Mexican Train' and 'Screw Your Neighbor' with Papa's friends. We even won $30 in quarters! It helped that everyone else kept drinking more the longer we played! Of course we ate lots of good food: shrimp po'boys at Bozo's Too, breakfast at Waffle House, lots of crawfish, and crawfish burritos at Coco Loco.

We spent a day fishing out in the Gulf with Papa. I was surprised he was able to get the boat on and off the trailer and climb down into the boat! We used squid as bait. While we were out, we lost the anchor and started drifting into a sandbar. We had to get back to the dock so we could run to Wal-Mart and buy the last one! Evan got excited by a heavy catch with the anchor, but he only caught a crab trap! I was excited to use it for my décor at home, but he lost it before he could pull it in. While getting the boat back, we watched so many tiny crabs all over the dock!

There was a hurricane rolling in, so it was very windy and cloudy during our visit. On the drive home, we decided to stop at the Alabama Drive-Thru Safari Park. They had a separate walk through area as well. We got special food to feed the giraffes. We got to pet zebras! We got really nervous when the gigantic bison started walking towards our car, but he wasn't aggressive at all. We also learned that ostriches really are assholes! Haha!

This was another good visit with Papa that I will forever cherish. I am so grateful for any time I get to spend with him and visiting my old stomping grounds.
