Nashville, Tennessee- August 2013

Our first adventure on our own! Evan's work was experiencing a temporary lay-off, so we decided to enjoy the time off by spending an extended weekend in Nashville! We stayed at the Millennium Maxwell House Hotel, close to the mall. One of our stops was the Parthenon, a replica of the Greek building, which is a small art museum. We went to the Tennessee State Museum, a free visit! They had a flag from one of the regiments of the Civil War that one of my ancestor's was part of. We ate at The Aquarium Restaurant in the mall. We visited the Nashville Zoo (quickly to become one of our traditions while traveling). While walking through downtown, we got caught in a powerful rain storm! We tried to run, but we ended up drenched, laughing, and making memories.

We also visited the tomb of President James K. Polk. We loved our tour of The Hermitage, home and burial site of President Andrew Jackson. We bought replicas of the Declaration and Constitution while we were there. We realized we had already seen the burial sites of three other presidents (William Howard Taft, Woodrow Wilson and John F. Kennedy) while visiting Washington D.C. in high school. We thought, "How cool would it be to visit all of the presidential gravesites?" And so one of our travel bucket lists was born! This idea has helped us come up with ideas for so many of our next adventures!
