After many months of family health issues, we were ready for a much needed weekend trip away. It's off to Papa Ronnie's! We drove down and got there early enough to go to my cousin Sissy's for a shrimp boil. The food was delicious! We had a great visit with family!
The next day we went into Moss Point for our traditional visit to the Gulf Coast Gator Ranch. This time we did the airboat tour in addition to the walking tour. We even got to pet a baby alligator. On the tour, we saw a 14ft alligator named Godzilla. We always have a wonderful time seeing the gators!
We went by the cemetery to visit the family and see my grandpa's cousin's new headstone. While trying to clean some of the headstones, I got bit by a fire ant (or a piss ant, as my Papa calls them).
We took a day to drive over to Gulf Shores. We stopped to eat at Shrimp Basket. We did some browsing in some of the souvenir shops. We walked down to the beach and spent some time in the water and looking for sand dollars. We ended up finding a handful of sand dollars and an actual dollar in the water, but after the waves knocked me down for the third time, we called it a day.
While visiting Papa, we always eat well! We went to Waffle House, Coco Loco, and of course Bozo's Too. I got a bucket of crawfish for the first time from there. We also ended up stopping at Buc-ee's three different times on our short trip.
As always, I was sad to leave Papa behind, but I'm always grateful for the visits I'm able to make. Hopefully we will get to visit him soon!
